Coos County Sheriff Report

Relationships
Monday, Sept. 17 was a rough day for some relationships according to five entries on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log.  At 6:11 p.m., Cape Arago Hwy., Coos Bay, "phone harassment.  Subject keeps calling RP and leaving messages he is going to do things to her world.  RP has messages saved.  Dispatch called subject and told him to stop calling the RP or he could go to jail."  At 4:10 p.m., Cape Arago Hwy., Coos Bay, "dispute, male vs. female, handles by Tribal."  At 12:16 p.m., Rosa Road, Bandon, "daughters boyfriend refusing to let RP's daughter and baby leave the residence.  Female and child stayed at residence, all others leaving, trespass charges to be referred to DA."  At 1:56 a.m., Jerome Road, Coos Bay, "subject called on out of contract cell phone, wanting info about a divorce.  Could hear female crying in background.  Verbal only, will leave each other alone for the night."  At midnight, Harvard St., Bandon, "open line 911 dispute male vs. female, verbal only, male walking to Coos."

Theft
A former employee was arrested Sunday, Sept. 16, on a warrant out of California during an investigation into the theft of a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck, a Polaris four-wheeler, farm equipment and horse tack in the Coaledo area north of Coquille.  According to a news release from the Coos Co. Sheriff's Office, a 66-year old female reported the theft from her ranch and boarding stables on Knutson Lane Sept. 10.  On Thursday, Sept. 13, police located the truck abandoned just outside of Coquille.  On Sunday, Sept. 16, investigators located 36-year old Gigett F. Bowen at a residence on Fishtrap Road, Coquille, and arrested her on a warrant from Merced, CA.  Additional charges of Unauthorized Use of Vehicle and Theft I were added.  She was transported to the county jail at Coquille pending extradition to California.  The investigation is continuing.

DUII
A traffic stop on the Cape Arago Hwy. at Pacific Ave. in Coos Bay Sunday night, Sept. 16, 10:12 p.m., resulted in an arrest for DUII.  According to a news release from the Coos Co. Sheriff's Office, 36-year old Eden Keller, Coos Bay, was also charged with Resisting Arrest and Reckless Endangering.  A breath test at the jail in Coquille revealed a blood-alcohol level of .14%.

RV in water
According to an entry on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log for Thursday, Sept. 13, 11:19 a.m., Transpacific Hwy., "motorhome went into water at the boat ramp, all occupants out."

Suspicious sign
According to an entry on the Coos Co. Sheriff's Office log for Friday, Sept. 14, Welch Road, Coos Bay, "sign in area, possible hate crime 'Kellogg Koon Klan',  Deputy took picture, investigation continuing."

Indecent exposure
According to an entry on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log for Friday, Sept. 14, 3:40 p.m., East Shore Road, North Bend, "neighbor collecting mail and walking around neighborhood naked."

Pawn shop arrest
A 25-year old Coos Bay male, who allegedly attempted to pawn possessions belonging to another, was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at a pawn shop in North Bend.  According to a news release from the Coos Co. Sheriff's Office, officers responded to World Pawn on Sherman Ave. about 5 p.m., "to a report of a subject trying to pawn stolen property."  Jimmy Ray Kochevar was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property and transported to the county jail at Coquille.  The stolen property reportedly was stolen from a vehicle on Sept. 9 owned by a 63-year old Coos Bay male.

Probation Violation
An investigation into a possible wire theft and illegal burning in the Bunker Hill area of Coos Bay Tuesday, Sept. 11, 7:44 p.m., led to the arrested of a 46-year old female transient.  According to a news release from the Coos Co. Sheriff's Office, Lise Y. Pinkerton was contacted and found to be on Probation.  It was also determined that she was in violation of her conditions of probation.  She was detained and transported to the county jail at Coquille.

Warrant
According to an entry on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log for Monday, Sept. 10, 3:22 p.m., Beverly Lane, Bandon, Karrie Hernandez arrested on Douglas Co. warrant for Probation Violation and Roseburg PD warrant for Probation Violation.  Transported to the county jail at Coquille.

Stolen log truck
According to an entry on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log for Monday, Sept. 10, 8:20 a.m., Hackett Lane, Coos Bay, "log truck stolen 0230 this a.m."  Described as dark blue 1993 Kenworth with a Peerless trailer.  APB sent Oregon & California.  

Partially clothed
According to an entry on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log for Monday, Sept. 10, 12:35 p.m., Charleston Boat Basin.  "Mental of drugged female walking up from docks to parking lot, tan shirt w/hood, belt at waist, no pants, barefoot, bag of oranges asking people to peel orange for her.  Female contacted, now has clothes on, does not appear to be under the influence of anything, possible mental."

Motorcycle vs. travel trailer
A fatal accident was reported at milepost 5.6 on West Beaver Hill Road Sunday, Sept. 9, involving a motorcycle and a travel trailer.  According to an entry on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log for  2:59 p.m., the Crash Team was called out.

Assault
According to an entry on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log for Sunday, Sept. 9, 5:28 p.m., Cape Arago Hwy., Coos Bay, "neighbor assaulted him with a beer bottle."  Thirty-nine year old Henry L. Brokaw arrested on charges of Harassment, Attempted Assault III and PCS Less than an Oz.  Fifty-eight year old Steven F. Fulk arrested on charges of Harassment, Unlawful Use of Weapon and Attempted Assault III.  Both transported to the county jail at Coquille.

Sexual Abuse
According to an entry on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log for Thursday, Sept. 6, 11:12 a.m., 400 block W. 19th St., Coquille, an individual was arrested and taken to the county jail at Coquille.  "Reporting son was abused at babysitter's house."  A news release later stated 18-year old Aaron James Flanders, formally of Coquille, but now resides in Sweet Home, was arrested on a charge of First Degree Sexual Abuse following an investigation involving a five year old coos Bay boy.  The investigation is continuing.   

VRO
According to an entry on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log for Thursday, Sept. 6, 5:32 p.m., Cape Arago Hwy., Coos Bay, "two subjects together at apt., female has a restraining order against male."  Thirty-six year old Aaron Matthew Nichols arrested on charge of Violation of Restraining Order.  

VRO
According to an entry on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log for Thursday, Sept. 6, 7:52 p.m., Green Acres Road, "almost assaulted."  Forty-six year old Eric Anthony Boler arrested on charge of Violation of Restraining Order.  Also charged with Harassment Physical - Domestic.

Grandparent scam
A resident in Lakeside lost $1,700 by falling victim to a telephone scam that targets grandparents.  According to an entry on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log for Friday, Sept. 7, 10:56 a.m., North Lake Road, "grandparent scam, wired $1,700 to Lima, Peru.  First call came in at 8:30 a.m. yesterday.  After sending cash, suspect called back for more.  RP did not send more."  Information about the scam was forwarded to the Oregon Department of Justice.  The scam usually involves an individual claiming to be a grandchild who is in trouble in a foreign country and needing funds.

Coos Co. Sheriff's Office
Various entries on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log for Wednesday, Sept. 5.  At 11:03 p.m., Lakeside area, "possible child abuse forwarded from NBPD."  At 11:02 p.m., Sara Lane, Lakeside, "RP observed blood on kitchen floor leading into bedroom.  RP is not bleeding.  Not as reported."  At 10:51 p.m., Edward Road, Bunker Hill, "Yellow Cab advised one of his drivers is about to get beat up at location.  Subject trespassed from Bachelor's Inn and Yellow Cab."  At 2:52 p.m., Libby Lane, Coos Bay, "subjects in newer silver van pulled into his driveway & flipped him off, have left.  He's never seen them before but he's sure his ex-wife sent them."  At 11:21 a.m., Norway Cemetery, "burglary to building.  Report taken Burglary II, Theft II, stolen property Hedge Trimmer, Weedeater, Generator." 

Harassment
According to an entry on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log for Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2:01 p.m., Bowron Road, Lakeside, "mother being harassed by her neighbor."  Fifty-six year old Dewey Ray Gilkey arrested on charge of Criminal Trespass I and transported to the county jail at Coquille.

Strangulation charges
A 39-year old Lakeside male was arrested August 29, 5:25 p.m., following a report of a domestic dispute at a residence on Spinreel Road.  According to a news release, Kris Edward Anderson was charged with two-counts of Strangulation, Domestic Menacing and Domestic Harassment involving a 39-year old Lakeside resident.  The victim did not need medical attention at the scene.  However, Anderson complained of chest pains, was examined at the scene, transported to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay, and then on to the county jail at Coquille.

Tires slashed
Tires were reportedly slashed on at least eleven vehicles in the Barview area of Coos Bay, Friday, August 31.  Entries on the Coos Co. Sheriff's log indicates the criminal mischief occurred on the Cape Arago Hwy., Wallace Road, and Barview.
