Police reports are filed for many reasons like arrests, domestic disputes, traffic accidents, burglaries, fraud, theft, stalking, violence, etc.
They were allegedly witnessed “throwing burning material” from a silver 1993 Nissan Sentra four-door on Dec. 19 at 3 p.m. According to an Oregon State Police report, the vehicle was stopped and the operated was allegedly impaired. Twenty year old Brittany Nicole Carson, Coos Bay, was arrested on a charge of DUII Controlled Substance and transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille. She was also cited for throwing Burining Material and for Driving Uninsured. A passenger, identified as 28-year old Joshua Daniel Felker, Coos Bay, “gave a false name and date of birth. He was cited for Giving False Information to Police/Criminal. It was also ascertained that he had an outstanding warrant for Probation Violation out of State Probation & Parole. He was transported to the county jail.
Herd of Elk
She reportedly swerved to avoid a herd of elk on Hwy. 241 (Coos River Hwy.) on Dec. 17, 5:30 a.m., and the 2004 Nissan Armada SUV left the northbound side of the highway, struck a utility pole, went through a livestock fence and came to rest in a cow pasture. According to an OSP report, 34-year old Lisa Dawn Strine, Coos Bay, “complained of pain,” and was taken by a passerby to her residence.
A single vehicle accident reportedly occurred on Hwy. 101, milepost 277, Dec. 16, 8:10 a.m., when the operator of a 2005 Nissan Sentra “lost control due to a medical condition.” According to an OSP report, the vehicle traveled off the northbound side of the highway and came to rest in the ditch facing south. “Multiple witnesses had previously reported the vehicle being driven erratically and striking mile marker 276. Twenty-six year old Jessie Aurora Courtright, Coos Bay, was transported by ambulance to Southern Coos Hospital in Bandon.
According to an OSP report, a 30-year old homeless person, stopped for a field interview Dec. 15, 12:05 a.m., Hwy. 101 & Flanagan, resulted in an arrest. Thirty-year old Jeffrey D. White, was found with a meth pipe. He was charged with PCS Meth and Probation Violation. Transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.
A white 2011 Toyota Rav 4, stopped Dec. 14, 6:44 p.m., on Hwy. 38 for Speeding and Failure to Dim, resulted in a DUII arrest. According to an OSP report, 27-year old Christopher C. Spanik, North Bend, “was exhibiting signs of impairment and admitted recent marijuana use. He surrendered a small amount of marijuana and a pipe.” He agreed to a Field Sobriety Test and failed. Spanik was taken into custody for DUII and transported to the Reedsport Police Dept. He was cited and released to an adult friend.
Pulled in front
The driver of a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer claimed another vehicle entered Hwy. 101 in front of him near milepost 209.5, near Spring St. in Gardiner, Dec. 13, 8:48 a.m., causing him to swerve to avoid impact but instead struck a stop sign. According to an OSP report, 26-year old Quintin Michael Cundiff, Reedsport, was not injured, but was warned for his speed.
Two passengers in a vehicle stopped by an Oregon State Police trooper Dec. 12, 11:10 a.m., Hwy. 101, milepost 283, were arrested on Probation Violation charges. According to an OSP report, 44-year old Daren Storm and 38-year old Sheldon Janes Storm Jr., both of Bandon, were transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.
The driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala lost control on Hwy. 42, milepost 9, Dec. 19, 9:17 p.m., and it hit the north embankment and ditch, ran over a highway sign and milepost marker, eventually coming to rest on the south shoulder of the roadway. According to an OSP report, 58-year old Lyn Mari Wilkes, Lakeside, sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to Coquille Valley Hospital. No citations were issued.
