Police reports are filed for many reasons like arrests, domestic disputes, traffic accidents, burglaries, fraud, theft, stalking, violence, etc.

Warrant

A 1985 Subaru station wagon, stopped July 24, 2:45 pm., on Libby Lane southwest of Coos Bay, led to a warrant arrest.  According to an OSP report, 54-year old Mark P. Forbes, Coos Bay, was found to be wanted for DWS-Misdemeanor and had a valid Restraining Order against him involving his female passenger.  He was arrested and transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

Furnishing Alcohol
A 39-year old Coos Bay woman was charged with Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor after an Oregon State Police trooper observed a minor drinking beer at Nesika Park, east of Coos Bay on July 23, 5 p.m.  According to an OSP report, an investigation revealed that Crystal D. Jones brought the beer and sitting next to the minor who was drinking.  She was cited and release.  The minor and three others nearby were cited for MIP-Alcohol.

Warrant arrest
A 40-year old male, wanted for Failure to Appear out of Coos County, was located in a Charleston Restaurant and arrested July 23 at 1:30 pm.  According to an OSP report, 40-year old Scott Allen Miller, Coos Bay, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

DUII
A loaded .22 caliber hand gun was found concealed in a duffle bag on the floorboard between the driver’s and passenger’s seat of a 2004 Ford F250 when it was stopped for Failing to Signal on July 22, 10:20 p.m., at milepost 238 on Hwy. 101.  According to an OSP report, “the operator was slow to yield to emergency lights.  An investigation revealed that the operator was impaired.”  Forty-year old David William Bouska, Coos Bay, was taken to CBPD for a breath sample.  He was cited and released for DUII and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

Disorderly Conduct
A report of an intoxicated male who fell into Hwy. 101, near the Newmark St. intersection, July 19th, 6:30 p.m., and was nearly hit by a chip truck, led to an arrest.  According to an OSP report, 43-year old Jack William Francisco Jr. “urinated in front of the witness and children.”  He was arrested for Disorderly Conduct II, transported to Coquille Valley Hospital, cleared medically, and then taken to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

Hit & Run
A 45-year old male was arrested on charges of Hit & Run, Criminal Mischief II and Parole Violation (Alcohol Possession), following a single-vehicle accident on State Route 240 (Cape Arago Hwy.) at Cottell Lane, July 18, 9:30 p.m.  According to an OSP report, an eastbound vehicle left the roadway, traveled 80-feet and struck the “Sunset Bay Golf Course” sign knocking it from the posts.  Forty-five year old James Edward Michael “self-extricated, called a friend to recover the vehicle from the ditch, and left prior to police arrival.”  He was later located at his residence, arrested, and transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

Accident
The driver of a 2001 VW Jetta that drifted off of Hwy. 241, Coos River Hwy., July 18, 7:30 p.m., and traveled about 40-feet before striking a tree, self-extricated herself before going to a nearby residence to report the accident.  According to an OSP report, 28-year old Bridgett Antoinette Huff, Coquille, had a visible injury and was transported by ambulance to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay.

PCS-Meth
A 1997 Ford Explorer, stopped for a traffic violation at Central Ave. and Ocean Blvd. in Coos Bay July 18, 3:39 p.m., led to criminal citations.  According to an OSP report, “the odor of marijuana was noted.”  Thirty-year old Clifford Robert Smith, Coos Bay, consented to a search of his person and vehicle.  Several Meth pipes, a baggie of suspected Meth and a marijuana pipe were located.  Smith was cited for PCS-Meth and violation citations for Unlawful Possession of Less than one Oz. Marijuana, DWS-Violation and Driving Uninsured.

Crabbing
A 42-year old male was arrested on an outstanding warrant July 17, 4:15 p.m., while crabbing at the Empire Boat Ramp in Coos Bay.  According to an OSP report, Michael R. Salcido was taken into custody and transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

Motorcycle Crash
A 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle, traveling east on Hwy. 42 at milepost 42.2, July 17, 11:35 a.m., reportedly entered a curve too fast for the wet conditions and dumped.  According to an OSP report, 73-year old Keith Lavern Lawson was operating the motorcycle with a female passenger.  The bike and a small trailer slid across the westbound lane and into a hillside.  Both riders incurred scrapes and bruises, but refused medical treatment.  The westbound lane was closed for a period of time.

Felony warrant
A white Forrester camper trailer, found illegally parked at Dunes Lane and Crannog Road near the railroad tracks on July 17, 8:02 a.m., led to a warrant arrest.  According to an OSP report, 29-year old Micca Leann Thomas, North Bend, was found to have a valid warrant for her arrest.  She was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille and the camper was tagged for tow.

DUII
The driver of a 1999 Dodge Ram 4X4 was stopped July 17, 2:08 a.m., for multiple traffic violations on Hwy. 241, milepost 1.  According to an OSP report, 23-year old David Grant Teixeira, North Bend, exhibited signs of impairment and failed a Field Sobriety Test.  He was taken into custody for DUII.  His passenger, 22-year old Kevin Jay Campbell, Coos Bay, allegedly “attempted to physically interfere” and was arrested after several Taser deployments and charged with Interfering with Police Officer, Resisting Arrest.  Both were transported to CBPD.

PCS
A 1990 Toyota truck stopped for a traffic violation on Ocean Blvd at 19th St. in Coos Bay July 16, 6:30 p.m., led to two arrests.  According to an OSP report, a consent search revealed an unlabeled prescription bottle containing Schedule IV pills and Marijuana.  Dillan Anthony Smith, Reedsport, was arrested for PCS IV while 21-year old Jason Lee William Fishel, Coos Bay, was taken into custody on a Parole Violation detainer.  Both were transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

Motorcycle accident
The driver of a 2004 BMW R15 motorcycle lost control on Hwy. 42, milepost 42, July 16, 3:58 p.m., and slid alongside a guardrail.  According to an OSP report, 73-year old David Michael Bennett, Ashland, was transported by an unknown party to a hospital in Roseburg where he was treated for a broken arm.

DUII
A 1996 Mazda MVP in a ditch along the Cape Arago Hwy. at the Plainview RV Park,  July 15, 11:20 p.m., led to a DUII arrest.  According to an OSP report, 19-year old David Manuel Gonsalves, Gold Hill, was found to be impaired.  He was taken into custody and transported to CBPD for a breath sample.

Accident
The driver of a 2002 Ford Explorer that collided with a 2005 Toyota Tacoma at Sumner Lane and Hwy. 101 July 15, 8:15 a.m., was warned for Failure to Yield the Right of Way.  According to an OSP report, 55-year old Helen C. Smashey, Coos Bay, was westbound on Sumner Lane when she entered Hwy. 101 and was struck by 73-year old James R. Sparks, Coos Bay.  Smashey complained of pain.

DUII-CS
He stated he possessed a Marijuana Medical Card when his 2002 Cadillac was stopped on Hwy. 101, milepost 232 on July 15 at 2:21 a.m. for going 71 miles an hour in a 55 mph zone.  According to an OSP report, “a glass jar of marijuana was located in plain sight on the rear seat of the vehicle.”  Also discovered were several ounces of marijuana and over $2,000 in cash.  Thirty-one year old Charles Edward Burrill, Beaverton, agreed to perform a Field Sobriety Test, which he failed.  He was taken to NBPD for breath and urine samples.  A passenger was taken by an NBPD officer to a motel.  Burrill was cited for speeding, DUII-Controlled Substance and released; however, he was referred to the Coos Co. District Attorney’s Office for Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

Warrant
A 1996 Honda Civic stopped July 14, 11:49 p.m. for an inoperable headlight on Hwy. 101 at Ashworth’s Market in North Bend, led to a warrant arrest.  According to an OSP report, a records check revealed 46-year old Tina Irene Rossback, Coos Bay, had two outstanding felony warrants for her arrest.  She was cited for Driving Uninsured, Failure to Carry Registration, warned for the Defective Lighting, and transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

Both suspended
They had to sit in a parked 2005 Chevrolet Malibu while a family member came to get them and give them a ride home on July 14, 7 p.m., milepost 25, on Hwy. 38.  According to an OSP report, 21-year old Trevor T.E. Porter, Florence, was stopped for Speeding.  A records check showed he was driving while suspended.  To avoid impounding the vehicle, the Trooper asked Porter’s brother if he had a valid license.  He thought it might now be valid following an earlier suspension.  A records check showed he was still suspended and had not surrendered his license.  He was issued a criminal citation.

DWS-M
A traffic stop on Hwy. 101, milepost 234, July 13, 6:07 p.m., led to an arrest.  According to an OSP report, 24-year old Dillon Lee Siegrist, Coos Bay, was operating a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM stopped for excessive speed in a construction zone.  He allegedly admitted to driving while suspended and was placed in custody.  A female passenger, the daughter of the vehicle’s registered owner, admitted to knowing the driver was suspended and allowing him to operate the vehicle.  The RO was contacted and gave permission to release the vehicle to the passenger.  She was cited for Permitting Unlawful Operation.  Siegrist was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

Probation violation
A 1996 Ford Escort stopped for Failure to Drive Within Lane and Speeding July 13, 7:40 a.m., on Libby Lane, southwest of Coos Bay, led to an arrest.  According to an OSP report, 54-year old Michael Joe Armstrong, Coos Bay, admitted he was on probation.  The Trooper “observed signs of criminal activity.”  A consented search of a duffle bag revealed “someone else’s prescription for Valium.”  A Probation Officer issued a detainer and Armstrong was charged with Probation Violation, and PCS Schedule IV.  He was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

DUII-CS
A 1997 Ford Taurus stopped for a traffic violation July 13, 1:56 a.m. at Hwy. 101 and Hall Ave. in Coos Bay led to a DUII-Controlled Substance arrest.  According to an OSP report, 18-year old Brandon Michael Nelson, Coos Bay, “exhibited signs of impairment and consented to” a Field Sobriety Test and failed.  He was taken to CBPD for a breath and urine sample, but refused a drug evaluation.  He was cited and released to his mother.

DUII-Alcohol
A 1985 Toyota pickup truck stopped for recklessly being operated on Hwy. 101, milepost 240, Bunker Hill, in Coos Bay, led to a DUII arrest.  According to an OSP report, 44-year old Larry David Nicholson, Myrtle Pt., was impaired.  He was arrested and transported to CBPD where he provided a breath sample, cited, and released to a sober adult.

Accident
A two vehicle minor injury accident occurred on Hwy. 101, south of Coos Bay, July 29, 5:55 p.m., when a 1997 Toyota Avalon, being operated by 64-year old Roberta Rose Willis, North Bend, pulled out of Sunset Memorial Park and attempted to turn north on Hwy. 101.  However, a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck, operated by 31-year old Shane Paul Johnson, Coos Bay, was southbound when the two vehicles collided.  Willis’s vehicle ended up against the guardrail, while Johnson’s truck and trailer crossed the northbound lane and came to a final uncontrollable rest over an embankment.  Willis briefly lost consciousness and was taken by ambulance to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay.

Felony warrant
Multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia were located and seized inside of a 2002 Dodge Neon stopped at Newmark and Ocean Blvd. in the Empire District of Coos Bay July 30, 2 p.m.  According to an OSP report, a State Trooper recognized the driver was operating the vehicle while suspended.  A left rear passenger was recognized as a Corrections Client wanted on a state wide Felony Warrant.  Twenty-six year old Ashley Phillips-Maine, Coos Bay, was taken into custody without incident.  Further charges were referred to the Coos Co. District Attorney’s Office.

Probation Violation
The driver of a 1985 Chevrolet Silverado was recognized for Driving While Suspended – Misdemeanor on July 31, 5 p.m., at Cape Arago Hwy. and Boat Basin Dr. in Charleston.  According to an OSP report, 44-year old Robert R. Hufman was also on Probation.  His Parole Officer was contacted and a detainer authorized.  Hufman was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille and the vehicle impounded.

DUII
A 1981 Subaru stopped July 31, 7:01 p.m., on Hwy. 42, milepost 1 for Speeding, led to a DUII arrest.  According to an OSP report, 44-year old Gary Lynn Tibbets, Coquille, “displayed signs of impairment and an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanated from the vehicle.”  He refused a Field Sobriety Test, was taken into custody and transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.  He was also cited for 68 mph in a 55 mph zone and Unlawful Possession of Less than one Oz. of Marijuana.

PCS
The “suspect showed signs of narcotic use.  Suspect was deceptive in his answers.  Suspect stated he was on Probation for Methamphetamine use.”  According to an OSP report for July 31, 8:20 p.m., Hwy. 101 & Elrod, 32-year old Michael R. Marshall, homeless, would not answer his Parole Officer’s questions.  A detainer was authorized and during a search, a meth pipe and baggies were discovered.  He was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

DUII crash
The driver of a 1995 Dodge 1500 reportedly passed out while westbound on Hwy. 42, across from North Bank Lane, west of Coquille, on July 27, 2:50 a.m., leading to a single-vehicle accident.  According to an OSP report, the vehicle veered off the road on the westbound shoulder where it came to an uncontrolled rest in a patch of foliage.  Thirty-eight year old Tito Noriega, Coquille, was taken to Coquille Valley Hospital and then placed in custody for DUII and Reckless Driving and transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

Accident
One of two drivers involved in a rear-end collision on Hwy. 101, milepost 243, across from Fawn’s Diesel Repair, complained of discomfort and was transported by ambulance to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay on July 26, 12:10 p.m.  According to an OSP report, 54-year old Patricia Ann McArten, Brookings, was stopped in a 2010 Mazda behind a northbound commercial motor vehicle attempting to turn left.  However, a 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse, operated by 22-year old Angel Floes Savala, Coquille, failed to stop in time.  McArten was transported to BAH.

DOC II
He was observed falling down while pushing a bicycle across Hwy. 101 at milepost 240 on July 26 at 5:47 p.m.  According to an OSP report, 50-year old Joe David Eldridge, Coos Bay, was followed while he attempted to push his bike to a nearby residence.  However, another Trooper observed him stumble off the curb and across a bicycle lane into the southbound lane of Hwy. 101.  Eldridge was arrested for Disorderly Conduct II and transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

Four-vehicle crash
The driver of a vehicle who allegedly “approached at a high rate of speed,” vehicles stopped for utility work on the Cape Arago Hwy. July 26, 4:03 p.m., and “reported that his brakes did not work at first,” caused a four-vehicle chain reaction accident.  According to an OSP report, 20-year old Daniel Paul Willis, Coos Bay, was operating a 1991 Ford Explorer.  He was cited for DWS-Violation, Driving Uninsured and Careless Driving.  His Parole Officer could not be reached, but his vehicle was impounded.  The other drivers, 21-year old Cara Rene Cox, Coos Bay, was transported by ambulance to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay.  “Her toddler passenger was transported by private party to BAH,” and40-year old Susan Merrill, McKinney, TX, refused transport but opted to go to the hospital on her own to be checked.   Two vehicles were towed.

DWS-M
The driver of a 1978 Toyota Corolla was recognized as Driving While Suspended – Misdemeanor on July 26, 10:27 a.m., on Newmark Ave. in Coos Bay.  According to an OSP report, 27-year old John Michael Langley, Lakeside, was observed to have signs of impairment; however, he consented to and passed a Field Sobriety Test.  A consented search of his vehicle revealed marijuana, a marijuana pipe and paraphernalia.  He was issued a criminal citation for PCS-Meth and DWS-M.  Langley was also warned for Failure to Carry Registration and released at the scene.  His vehicle was impounded.

Offensive littering
A 24-year old Coos Bay man was charged with two-counts of Offensive Littering following an investigation started by one Oregon State Police trooper and completed by another.  According to an OSP report, Kori Daniel James Stoddard “initially reported to be the victim of the littering, naming another party as the primary suspect.  Mr. Stoddard’s wife supported his story when questioned.  Mr. Stoddard eventually admitted to committing the crime and was cited and released on 7-26-11 at approximately 7:00 a.m.”
